“Elaph La Forcola” is the newest exhibition of “Made in.. Art Gallery” with artworks by Saudi and Italian artists that highlights the role of migration in one’s survival and continuity of life.
Since “Made in..” was first started in Venice with the aim of shedding light over forgotten ideas from local cultures, it has been decided to choose a concept that can reflect the two aspects of the gallery’s new identity: “Elaph”, which means to cohere and connect, is the word used in the Qura’an to describe the perseverance of the Quraysh trip in connecting their summer to their winter trip, which had a vital role in the survival and power of Arabia in the past.
While “Forcola” is a Venetian oarlock that is specifically made of the rowers to adapt to their significant method of rowing. The Venetians, in contrary to all rowers around the world, row their gondolas facing forward while standing. This forced the invention of a piece that can serve this purpose. Each piece is signed and numbered by its maker since it is a true work of art that is custom sculpted based on the rower’s body measurement, height, position, and endeavor.
Therefore, this exhibition comes as an announcement of a beginning of cultural exchange journey between Saudi Arabia and the rest of the world. Audience are invited to dive into new worlds and alternative spaces of thought and human emotions.
إيلاف الفوركولا
"إيلاف الفوركولا" هو أحدث معرض لجاليري "ميد إن.." ، ويقدم مجموعة من أعمال لفنانين محليين و ايطالين تتحدث عن الارتحال كجزء حيوي لبقاء الإنسان واستمرار الحياة.
ولأن الفكرة الأولى التي قام عليها جاليري "ميد إن.." عند تأسيس فرعه الأول في مدينة البندقية الإيطالية هي التعريف بالأفكار الثقافية المنسية، تم اختيار الاسم ليعكس شقيّن من الهوية الجديدة للجاليري: فكلمة "إيلاف" وتعني الوصل والتأليف بين شيئين، هي الوصف الذي اختاره الله سبحانه وتعالى ليصف دأب قريش على وصل رحلة الشتاء بالصيف، والتي كانت أحد أهم أسباب البقاء والقوة للجزيرة العربية منذ القدم؛ أما "فوروكولا" فهي عبارة عن جزء خشبي يتكئ عليه مجدّف الجندول البندقي، إذ أنّه المجدّف الوحيد الذي يجدف قُدُماً وهو واقف يتطلع إلى البحر أمامه، في حين يعطي بقية المجدّفين حول العالم ظهرهم للأمام وهم يجدّفون جلوساً. لذا ظهرت الفوركولا لتخدم ديناميكية تجديفه المختلفة، وكل واحدة منها قطعة فريدة توقّع وترقّم من قِبَل صانعها لأنها منحوتة فنية حقيقية صنعت خصيصاً للمجدّف بمقاسات وشكل فريد يتناسب مع جسده القوّي، طوله، وضعية وقوفه، وهمّته الحثيثة على الارتحال
من هنا يأتي المعرض إعلاناً لانطلاقة رحلة سنوية جديدة للتواصل الثقافي والمعرفي بين الجزيرة العربية وأوروبا من خلال تقديم أعمال فنية تأسر المشاهد وتأخذه معها إلى عوالم أخرى ومساحات جديدة من الفكر والمشاع
